SHMI team leaves Tuesday, April 30, 2013 for the Philippines

Our Second Hope Ministries team is getting ready to head to the Philippines this week.  Check here for further up-dates of their trip.

SHMI prepares for Philippines in May, 2013

A team of 10 is preparing for another mission experience.  This trip will involve our Vision Team, who will conduct clinics everyday for a week.  In addition, the Village Health Care Team will train locals in hydrotherapy, First Aid, CPR, and other areas of Basic Health Care. We will be conducting the  evening evangelistic meetings each night.
Thanks to the many donations of used eyeglasses we have been able to restock our supply.    We continue to need more donations for future trips, including prescription eyeglasses, Readers, and good sunglasses.  Financial donations are appreciated to help with the various costs, such as manikins for teaching CPR, suturing kits for training, shipping extra bags for our vision clinics, and so many other miscellaneous expenses with each trip. Assistance with airfare is always appreciated as well.  Volunteers are willing to go but they are limited by funds.

Home Safe and Sound

After a long day flying from Managua, Nicaragua to Miami, then on to Dallas, we finally arrived in Seattle about 1:00 a.m.  We got a few hours of sleep before heading home through the Snoqualmie Pass.  We had to wait over an hour for Avalanche Control.  It is good to be home and sleep in our own beds.

It is also a good feeling to know that many lives are a little better because we went and helped them.  The last Sabbath, we met in the newly finished church and witnessed about 20 baptisms, three couples got married and we all had communion together.  What a blessing to be part of it.
